Malaria.
Dr. Ravi has conducted several studies in the area of malaria diagnosis, from point-of-care rapid rapid antigen tests to molecular tests. He is also interested in the human, social and economic factors involved in malaria diagnostics.
Medical Diagnostics.
He is evaluating, deploying and refining medical diagnostic devices to bring advanced healthcare to developing countries. Examples include infrared thermometers, ultrasound scanners and electrocardiographs.
Gene delivery.
Dr. Ravi developed a system to deliver DNA that encodes for growth factors directly to target cells, a technique similar to that being used in the novel mRNA vaccines against COVID-19.
